dinner with a side of whale

Mr S and I are on a mini-break (horray!) in Cambria, on the central Californian coast. We’re staying on Moonstone beach and as I write, I am listening to the crash of the Pacific. There are surfers lurking in the waters and sprawled on the rocks are dozens of seals.

Yesterday evening we went out for dinner and sat outside watching the sun set over the ocean. Then we realised that whales were spouting. The only shame was that the sunset was on one side and the whales were on the other. We duly complained to our waitress. Sure enough, five minutes later, she came over to point out whale-tails flicking against the sinking orange sun…

  1. I’m not jealous. No, really, I’m not. Whales, blue skies, the ocean, and America, all while you’re editing your soon-to-be-published novel.

Nope, I’m not jealous at all.

    Really.

  2. Nice!

(i have nothing more to say :))

  3. Are invisible seals similar to invisible sea lions? You know, we have sea lions on the land, too. We call them “land sea lions.”
